ICE WARRIORS will launch in fall 2005 with an in-depth, behinds the scenes documentary that showcases the historic, never-to-be repeated, six-city Russian hockey tour that the “ICE WARRIORS” team conducted in March 2005. The documentary captures the lives, passion and men of the Red Wings Alumni—the true “Ice Warriors”— as well as their Russian “Ice Warrior” counterparts.

The ICE WARRIORS team, composed mainly of the Red Wings Alumni, went to Russia in March 2005 and played a grueling seven game series in ten nights in locations ranging from Moscow to Siberia. The ICE WARRIORS team, led by former Detroit Red Wing Igor Larionov, played a powerhouse assembly of Russian national talent composed of legendary Russian players—including Alexander Yakushev, Vladimir Lutchenko and others. The ICE WARRIORS prevailed over their Russian counterparts and won the series four games to three.

The ICE WARRIORS Russian series played to packed arenas throughout all of the former Soviet Union—especially in the country of Belarus, where former Russian hockey player and current Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko participated.

Although this historic series pitted some of hockey’s most notable, most intense, most intimidating players ever to take the ice, all proceeds from the Russian series went back to communities in each city where the games were played.

But it may not be over. Rumblings from Russia speak of bringing their legendary players to North America for a rematch with the ICE WARRIORS.

The documentary is scheduled to air on Fox Sports Network, FSN in October 2005 and will be broadcast approximately six times—in prime time slots. With special introduction by NHL Hall of Famer Ted Lindsay, the documentary ICE WARRIORS will contain footage, commentary and interviews unlike any captured before.
